When she was at British Vogue, Fiona Golfar, journ When she was at British Vogue, Fiona Golfar, journalist and long-time editor-at-large, went deep into the private lives of women from all walks of life: after all, she is something of an ‘everywoman’ herself.

The story of her dramatic pause, hard on the heels of a change in the editorial leadership at Vogue, and her comeback, are detailed in this episode of Unpaused….Season 2 Episode 12

When you take a design grad who can stand up in a London nightclub with an all-Asian, Spice Girl lookalike band, send her across the globe and expect her to make her way on her own, fear of failure barely figures in her story.

Mia Feasey, founder of Siren Design, is the go-to when there’s a new fit-out to be done at Google or Uber.

How she got there, and built the liveliest female-friendly culture inside a brilliant international design business; marrying and mothering along the way all from a standing start, when she was barely out of her teens and in a new country with no connections and only £1000 in her pocket, is vintage Unpaused.

In our next episode of #unpausedthepodcast Judy sp In our next episode of #unpausedthepodcast Judy speaks to retired Australian Family Court Justice, Michelle May.

Michelle’s is a story with a great twist. She grew up in Brisbane, raised by a professional working mother, unusual for those times, who was a role model and trusted advisor to Michelle. Michelle recently retired from the bench after a 40-year career - firstly at the Family Court Bar, later as a Queens Counsel in that jurisdiction. At 40 she accepted an appointment as a judge in the Trial Division of the Court and finally stepped up to its Court of Appeal. It was certainly a distinguished career but took a dramatic turn when at 35, she gave birth of triplet daughters – thus the pause.

Michelle knows more than most, having directly observed in the divorce courts what women sometimes do in their personal lives which ultimately has the effect of sabotaging their careers or their lives more generally.

Listen to our latest episode featuring Jane Bridge (Founder or Boardroom Partners), it might change the way you view board appointments - for better or worse! #unpausedthepodcast #unpaused #genderequality #womeninbusiness #womenreturners

This is the conversation I would have loved to have had before stepping, apprehensively, onto a Board for the first time more than 20 years ago. And there’s no one I would rather have had it with than Jane Bridge.

For years, Jane ran Boardroom Partners, a board recruitment and advisory firm in Sydney. As a result, she is ideally placed to bear witness to the pitfalls and perils facing the board novice. If you’re considering a shift to a board role, or just wondering how the arcane world of board appointments works, then this is one interview when you might want to have a pencil to hand. It’s full of the wisdom that comes from years of conversations with Chairs and directors in thorny situations, and reassuring common sense, combined.

Marie Daage, another Unpaused alumna, so hard at w Marie Daage, another Unpaused alumna, so hard at work in her new Paris store, shuttered on the outside during a renewed sequestration but very much alive on the inside. Marie and I are joyfully distracting ourselves from news abroad, immersed in the colours and shapes of her exquisite hand-painted porcelain. Indefatigable, despite a recent bout of the virus, she told me all her artists, the ones who paint each plate and cup with her many designs by hand, are all hard at work in their various ateliers across France... she is a one-woman economic revival engine. Bravo dear Marie ⭐️ You are an inspiration.
